SUMMARY:Field Trip: Redland Ahead
DESCRIPTION:Redland Ahead  is a non profit\, formed in 2014 by Col John Mills a 30 year career US Army Veteran\, to assist veterans and others interested in agriculture intern on our farm to try their hand at farming. We partnered with FIU with their New Farmer Training program funded by the USDA to offer an internship. \nWe had formally run Redland Community Farm & Market at Verde for the MD Homeless Trust where we successfully trained several veterans and former homeless individuals who went on to very productive careers in ag.  We moved our location to where our one acre green house resides a couple of years ago to recreate RCFF as Redland Fresh Farm. We built out a container as our farm stand and have a small farmer’s market space under the canopy of the avocado trees. We held a few markets until the end of March and will begin again in the fall when the weather permits. We are currently in talks to rent out our nursery and to the west of that we are designing a space for teaching/events and a butterfly garden that will provide a quiet place for veterans and others to find reflection. \nYou will be touring the greenhouse\, our small garden area\, and our farm stand. The property is 7.5 acres so please wear comfortable shoes. \nPrice listed is for RFCI members only. Non-members will be charged $20.00. \n  \n
