Ingredients

  • Sugar 1 Cup
  • Cinnamon ¼ t.
  • Nutmeg ¼ t.
  • Breadcrumbs 2 Cups
  • Butter ¼ Cup
  • Lemon Zest 1 t.
  • Water ¼ Cup
  • Lemon or Lime Juice 3 T.
  • Guavas, seeded & cut into small pieces 2 Cups
  • Butter

Serves: 4–6

Layered baked dessert featuring guava, breadcrumbs, & spices creating a warm, fruity, spiced pudding like dish.

Cooking Steps

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend the sugar, spices, & lemon zest. Mix crumbs & butter lightly with a fork. Cover bottom of buttered dish with 1/3 of the crumb mixture, add half of the guavas, & sprinkle with half of the sugar mixture. Repeat with 1/3 crumb mixture, the remaining guavas, & the remaining sugar mixture. Cover with the remaining 1/3 crumb mixture. Mix the water with the lemon or lime juice and pour over the top. Dot with butter, cover with foil, & bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil & bake another 5 – 10 minutes until top is lightly browned. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
